NSW SHADOW MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT JODI MCKAY AND LANE COVE LABOR VISIT THE LANE COVE INTERCHANGE
-->NSW Shadow Minister for Transport Jodi McKay visited the Lane Cove bus interchange with Lane Cove Labor this morning to observe the bus queues local residents are forced to endure each and every day.
This is the second time this year the Shadow Minister has visited Lane Cove to put pressure on the Liberal member for Lane Cove to address overcrowding.
Lane Cove Labor Candidates, Andrew Zbik (West Ward), Wayne Enright (West Ward) and David Roenfeldt (Central Ward) were all there with the Shadow Minister to listen to the concerns of commuters.
In April Lane Cove Labor organised a public forum on the bus overcrowding issue. That same week Anthony Roberts announced more buses would be allocated to Lane Cove. These new buses materialised in June.
However, an insufficient number of new buses were allocated and the service remains overcrowded.
Jodi McKay visited Lane Cove today to continue to pressure Anthony Roberts to act.
"It should not take local community groups and visits from the Shadow Minister for Roberts to fix this issue.
"Local residents have been calling for more buses for more than two years. Anthony Roberts can promise all he likes, but it’s about time he actually started delivering increased services”, Labor Council Candidate Andrew Zbik said
"The population in Lane Cove has increased 15% since 2011. Another 1,000 units are being completed in Lane Cove over the next 18 months. It’s simply not good enough”, Labor Council Candidate David Roenfeldt said.
Lane Cove Labor will continue to advocate on behalf of frustrated commuters.
