Policies for an even better Lane Cove
We are proud to share with you our progressive policies for Lane Cove.
These policies have been developed in consultation with the Lane Cove community and we are grateful to everybody who took the time to chat with us and our team throughout the last few years, who popped over to our Saturday street stalls or who filled out our Community Survey.
Creating Safe Spaces
Establish a Social Support Resource Centre
-
Provide current, factual information on concerns including: online safety, scam protection, new coercive control laws, financial health checks and family support services.
Initiate strategies for families impacted by Domestic Violence
-
Including support for an innovative pilot program giving immediate access to short term emergency accommodation.

-
Run during summer to provide free family entertainment, giving preference and support to local eateries.
Housing
-
Continue to work with NSW State Government to develop medium density housing with the inclusion of affordable housing.
Support our performing arts
-
Investigate the possibility of a St Leonards Canopy at Wadanggari Park to give more opportunity for local performers;
-
In 2021 Lane Cove Labor Councillors supported the investigation into the potential for a performing arts space in Lane Cove. The Terrace Function Room at the Lane Cove Community Hub will be converted into a 135-seat performing arts space.
Provide better shops and services in Lane Cove North, and advocate for a small grocery store in the social housing redevelopment on Mindarie Street.
-
Without an appropriate neighbourhood centre, the rapidly growing community of the Mowbray Road Precinct are forced to drive to the village for basic services, increasing traffic and reducing incidental activity;
-
Mindarie Park is a wonderful space; ideal for families with children. However there is an opportunity to provide more community-minded public spaces and cater to the broader needs of the entire community.
Commit to funding the restoration of the Jean Michell Lucretia Baths in 2025/26 Budget
Lane Cove Labor are committed to advocating for access and inclusion so that all Lane Cove residents can make the most of our beautiful community.
